Salt Lake City

Today was a long drive.  We have been turning what should be a 6 hr drive into 8 or more.  Towing just requires more stops and slower speeds.
I think our top elevation today was just over 8500 ft however the terrain at that spot was not what I would consider mountainous.

We are getting really fast at set up and tear down.  10 min tonight and we were set.  Once set up we found a grocery store only a mile from the campground.  Rancho Markets...it was a fun adventure shopping in an authentic Mexican grocery store.  We were able to practice our very limited Spanish skills.

Tomorrow we will explore SLC and then head to our next site!!

Cheyenne Wyoming

Today we had a relatively short 3 hour drive from our stay last night. We also greatly appreciated the fact that there wasn't a strong crosswind today which made driving a lot more enjoyable!
We had fun showing Charlotte how the scenery changed as we entered the western part of Nebraska and into Wyoming. We were planning on having lunch at our campsite but stumbled upon some extremely amazing authentic Indian cuisine in a very small town of about 200 people in eastern Wyoming.
The food was amazing and the people were great however I think it was a bit too spicy for the rest of the family and I was the only one that finished the plate!
Once we got to the campsite and set up we decided to tour the city of Cheyenne. We stopped to see the state capital as well as the Cowgirl Museum which unfortunately was closed.

We also saw one of the largest trains in the world! This monster of a train weighs 1.2 million pounds!!!
We also had a lot of fun playing in the park.
Here's a great picture of Charlotte chasing Graham :)
We took quite a few selfies today here's one that's in front of the state capital!
Once we got back to the campground I needed to make sure my legs will still work for the bike ride so I went for a quick 30 mile ride. Cheyenne is at about 6000 feet and I was happy to feel just as strong up here as I did in Iowa. The kids of course wanted to check out the pool so I took them for a quick swim while Rebecca made dinner.
Tomorrow we are off to Salt Lake City bright and early. It is about a 6 hour drive, so I hope the kids behave :) We will report more then!

Here is our campsite and map of our journey:

North Platte

After a great nights rest we went to an awesome breakfast at Peggy and Terry Geiger's house. We said goodbye to our Rotary friends as well as Catalina, who had stayed with us most of June. Today was mostly driving to put in about 8 hours with pretty frequent stops for kid potty breaks and refueling the beast.

We had some pretty serious crosswinds today driving that made us have to really focus and so we switched drivers a lot. I had hoped to get a short bike ride in today but we ended up arriving in North Platte a little later than expected so instead we made a pretty fantastic pasta dinner!

The campsite tonight is pretty awesome and had a nice pool. Rebecca and the kids got a chance to do some swimming while I made dinner.
Tomorrow is a very short 3 Hour drive to Cheyenne Wyoming. We will be staying at the KOA and so we plan to do lots of swimming, cook a nice meal, explore Cheyenne and I hope to ride a few hours.
